The L.A. Zoo’s Sustainable Wine + Dinner Series May 11
The L.A. Zoo is celebrating their 50th anniversary with a sustainable wine and dinner series. Taking place during four springtime evenings, this series will highlight the continued commitment to conservation while offering guests delicious food and wine. Each event will include a five-course farm-to-table dinner accompanied by wine from local vineyards. There will also be a zoo walk-through with education and entertainment highlights, along with up-close animal encounters.

Free Science Fiction Film Series at Union Station May 12
Downtown Los Angeles’ Union Station is playing host to a new series of free film screenings this spring. During ‘Sci-Fi At Union Station,’ you can enjoy three iconic science fiction movies,  all of which are at least partially set in the City of Angels, within one of L.A.’s architectural treasures. Them! Screens on Friday, May 12. In Them!, nuclear testing creates humongous ants that terrorize people from New Mexico to California, threatening the very existence of mankind. Released in 1954, Filmed in black and white, Them! will be introduced by a special guest (yet to be announced).

First Annual East LA Comic-Con May 20

JPL Open House  May 20-21
Once a year, NASA and Caltech open the doors to its robotic research lab for two days of tours, demos and presentations. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) oversees the research, fabrication and piloting of unmanned missions like Voyager and the Mars rovers. Other highlights include a tour of mission control, a walk-through of the machine shop and an open-air display of rover prototypes. Due to the event’s incredible popularity, JPL has switched to a ticketing system; admission is still free, but all guests will be required to have a ticket to enter.

6 L.A. Museums Will Be Free on ‘Museums of the Arroyo Day’ 2017 May 21
There’s a five-hour window when the public can visit the MOTA museums at no charge from 12:00pm – 5:00pm, with the last museum entrance at all locations being at 4:00pm. More info to come as event date approaches. Check back to the official website for updates as they become available.
